Stylish Northern Europeans: Oslo is the t-shirt capital
A glance at the cotton statistics: The Spreadshirt Trend Report, Part 4
Leipzig, 10 July, 2008 – If the t-shirt had a seat of government, it would be found in the Norwegian capital Oslo. It is there that the fashionable and multi-functional article of clothing is especially loved. A look into the order statistics from Spreadshirt, the worldwide platform for creative apparel, will prove this. The relationship between purchased shirts and city population were evaluated from Spreadshirt's worldwide delivery destinations.
The Finnish capital Helsinki landed in a respectable second place in the statistics ranking. Christian Banzhaf, Spreadshirt's country manager for Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, interprets the Northern European's dominance as the pronounced fashion consciousness in the region. “In the past, fashion trends would be made in Italy and France, but these days they are emerging more and more from the north. You can see this in the dominance of Scandinavian brands across Europe. In addition, Northern Europeans are said to be traditionally open to new ideas, from which an online platform like Spreadshirt can certainly profit.”
The classic shirt in t-form is not only an important article of clothing for Northern Europeans but also for Spreadshirt as a Leipzig company. The t-shirt's individual design was the origin of the business idea; the t-shirt in its many variants still remains at the center of the collection. In the last half year, traditional t-shirts made up 65% of the purchased products at the creative clothing company – they accounted for 60% of the revenue. “The t-shirt is a status symbol. It shows what you believe in, what mood you are in. Nothing is better-suited to demonstrate one's own individuality and let off some creative steam,” enlightens Brand Evangelist Andreas Milles.
Spreadshirt has much to thank the t-shirt – and for that reason would like to duly celebrate the article of clothing. Together with the laFraise's design competition, which belongs to part of the company's business, Spreadshirt will initialise the first international holiday for” The Most Universal Article of Clothing of the Century” (iD Magazine) on the first day of Summer. The creative apparel company invites t-shirt fans from across the world to celebrate with us in a virtual party room on t-shirtday.com, to design one of 500 shirts for free and finally to personally be there at the offline-festivities in Boston and Berlin on T-shirt Day.
Spreadshirt's idea behind the trend report is to inform about the tendencies in the personalised apparel universe. Interested journalists can contact the project initiator, Tobias Huber, at the provided address to receive further information.
