FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How can I take part in the Design Contest?

You need to be registered with Spreadshirt to take part. You can submit as many designs as you like, but only one of them will be able to make the Top 10 of our preselection. All designs that have been uploaded before the end of the contest period need to be tagged with the right keyword to take part. The point in time of when the design is uploaded counts (and not when it is cleared). The keyword tag in question can be found on this site.

The contest kicks off at the beginning of the month and runs for two weeks. Then the jury will take a few days to decide on their Top 10 favorites. Feel like staying in the loop with the contest, and know when it enters the next phase? Keep checking this page – all the info will be on top.

How do I make the Top Ten?

Since there are thousands of design submissions, we’ve got an expert jury to make a preselection of ten designs for each of Spreadshirt’s platforms (.net and .com). This means that there will be two Top 10 lists – one for each platform!

The jury assesses the designs according to these criteria:

  • Does it come out well on a Spreadshirt product?
  • How relevant and suitable is the design for the contest?
  • Is the design really original and unique?
  • Is there an apparent degree of creativity?

The jury awards points on a scale from 1 to 5 for each criterion. The total score a design achieves is based on the way our three jury members appreciate it according to the four criteria. The designs will be assessed without further context, meaning the designer name, tags or upload dates are unknown to the jury members. The Top 10 will then consist of the designs that have scored the highest. A designer will only be able to have one of his/her designs reach the Top 10.

How are the winners chosen?

There’s an independent vote for each of the two platforms (.net und .com). The jury decides on the Top 10 designs for preselection, and the winners emerge from a public poll carried out on Spreadshirt’s Facebook pages. A link to the contest poll in its respective phase can be found on this page. We’ll be sending an email to the designers who‘ve made the Top 10 to notify them. Whoever gets the most votes wins! So, if you’ve made the Top 10: galvanize your followers to vote for you!

What can I win?

The public vote will decide on the three winning designs among the Top 10. First place wins £500, second place £250 and third place £100. The winners will be notified via email, and they can be sure that their designs will be promoted by way of Spreadhsirt’s marketing measures and homepage highlighting.
