Spreadshirt signs The Sun

On demand t-shirts create new revenue stream for The Sun

LONDON – 29 October 2010. Spreadshirt (www.spreadshirt.co.uk), the European market leader in personalised apparel, has signed The Sun as its latest Shop Partner. The Sun has established a new revenue stream for its Superfans website, with customisable, print on demand t-shirts for football fans.

Spreadshirt’s print on demand technology allows users to choose the design, style and size of their t-shirt, whilst limiting the risk for its clients (no more bulk buying in advance). Fans can even create their own designs through Superfans. The high-quality of Spreadshirt apparel means that revenue can be generated through the sale of personalisable t-shirts, sports tops or kit bags.

Spreadshirt provides a seamless extension to its Shop Partner’s websites, handling all the online orders, payments, returns and the on demand delivery (within 3-5 days in the UK). The Sun will generate revenue from a percentage of the t-shirts sold via the Superfans site.

Philip Rooke, CMO at Spreadshirt explained, “We find customers perceive higher value in personalised shirts, rather than indiscriminate, standard issue, bulk buy t-shirts”. The Sun is using the customisable apparel as a revenue-generator and giving football fans a t-shirt they want. The UK is our fastest growing country and British companies seem to like the personalisation aspect we offer, as it allows their customers to become part of the brand experience, customising it to suit them”.

He continued, “The Sun is the go-to source for football news for millions of people.
Judging by some of the chants they come up with, football fans are a creative lot. As a Spreadshirt partner, the Superfans site will give Sun readers the opportunity to display their humour on their chests”.
