Group Ordering for Team Gear Moves Ahead of the Game
Spreadshirt’s TeamShirts division, has launched Kit Creator so captains can group order the team’s kit from a smartphone. A pace-setter for the print-on-demand merchandising sector, it means school, work and sports team leaders can now design, customise and print the team’s kit from their phones.
Group purchasing is growing, but can be complex, with different sizes and styles for the captain to organise. TeamShirts wants to make it easier to create and buy ideas on team gear. In January, Spreadshirt’s TeamShirts team noticed that nearly 70% of traffic from a Facebook ad campaign was coming from mobiles, rather than desktops as might be expected. The smartphone Kit Creator is a response to this development and the apparent move to mobile taking place in consumer shopping habits.
How the Kit Creator works
The Team leaders can now upload or choose a design and have the rest of the team vote on it. They can chose a colour and whether to have it on a t-shirt, polo shirt etc. The team leader can then review the whole team’s shirts and send them to be created by TeamShirts. Additional personalisation functionality will follow, so that individual names and numbers can be added to the shirts, making life even easier for the captain.
The Kit Creator was developed in-house at Teamshirts and based on the Javascript MVC framework <rAppid:js />. The designers built on their knowledge of the proprietary touch-optimised t-shirt designer and single-page check-out that Spreadshirt designed specifically for use via a mobile device.
The Kit Creator is currently available for smartphones only; versions for tablets and desktop are currently being developed and tested.
