You might recall that we’ve had ongoing changes due to COVID-19. While some of these temporary policies will remain as-is for the time being, other changes like our design upload limit have begun to improve.

Our design upload limit has temporarily increased. This means, you can now upload 20 designs on a daily basis. As per usual, your designs will be available immediately in the Marketplace. By adding more designs, you have more variety for customers to choose from, and that can result in making more sales.

Thank you for being patient with us as we navigate this new situation, we are very much looking forward to seeing all of the new designs you created while social distancing!

In some countries (e.g. Germany) wearing a face mask in public has already become mandatory. Other countries are sure to follow suit sooner than later.

Our face mask is no medical-grade material and shouldn’t be used as such. Nevertheless: our face mask offers added protection for nose and mouth, which is surely a bonus these days.

Why the face mask is good

The reusable mask has two elastic loops to tie it behind the ears. Its breathable fabric and a contoured shape make it a great alternative for anyone seeking something different away from the mainstream. Best of all, the mask is reusable and can either be washed by hand (which is better for the environment) or in a washing machine at 60°C.

And what makes the face mask really unique is that it is Spreadshirt’s first Marketplace product that can printed on the entire surface area. Good times to get creative! You can personalise it with everything from uplifting quotes to cheerful designs.

Important: We’ve received a huge demand for the new face masks over the weekend which is why they’re currently unavailable. Alternative protection

If the face mask isn’t your thing, consider adding the bandana to your product line. A bandana can be tied to cover mouth and nose, and it can be worn all-year-round as well.

The health and safety of our employees, the designer community and our suppliers is a top priority at Spreadshirt. In order for everyone – in the office, in production and in the supply chain – to keep an appropriate distance from each other, we have to temporarily cut back or pause a few of our normal processes.

Design Contest on hold

From April 1^st, 2020, we will not be holding a monthly design contest for the time being. We’ll have our exciting competitions up and running again as soon as we can.

The lucky winners of the last contest have already been chosen. You can admire our three wining Cool Critters of 2020 here.

You will be informed about the next contest on our contest page and in our designer newsletter. Until then, we would like to encourage you to take advantage of your extra time at home to your creative work.

No Pre-Approvals for now

Pre-Approval was introduced almost exactly one year ago and we’ve had to temporarily disable it. For now, it might take a bit longer for your new designs to go live on the Marketplace and be ready to buy. Please be patient – we’re trying our best to keep the approval process as short as possible.

Temporary upload limit: 5 designs per day

We also have to temporarily reduce our upload limit. For the time being, the limit is 5 new designs per day. If you run your own Spreadshop in addition to your Showroom, please note that the upload limit applies to both points of sales.

Our tip: Concentrate on marketing your best designs and bestsellers for now.

Use the peace and quiet

We very much hope that everyone can soon return to everyday life and normality. Until then, we will keep you up to date on current developments in this blog article.

Update April 27th, 2020: Keep On, Keepin’ On

It’s no secret that COVID-19 has changed everything about daily life. During the chaos, we hope you’ve been able to stay safe, healthy, and positive. At Spreadshirt, we continue to work in our home offices and responsibly practice social distancing.

We’ve faced minor setbacks along the way, like having both of our factories temporarily closed in the United States. But with each new COVID-19 related challenge, we’ve worked hard to find a solution. We’ve made some temporary changes to daily business, which you might’ve read about on our blog. These changes will remain in effect for the time being, but we hope to be back to normal soon.

In times like these, we appreciate having a creative community of dedicated Designers. We love your work related to the #stayhome movement, quarantine, and heroes of everyday life. These designs can now be printed on new face protection products, to keep you, those around you, and your customers safe.

As much of the world is paying close attention to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to share with you how Spreadshirt is responding. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our community, from our employees in our offices to our Designers and our suppliers.

Due to the fact that Spreadshirt is an e-commerce company, we feel very fortunate to say that our digital store fronts will be able to remain open during this difficult time. We are assessing the situation daily and taking the necessary precautions to ensure we can meet our customers’ and designers’ needs while protecting our employees.

Health & safety of our employees

Our employees are what make our company so great. From our headquarters to our factories we would like to share with you the steps we are taking to protect them and to do our part in preventing the spread of the virus. For starters, we are taking all steps recommended by public health officials, such as paying extra attention to hygiene and being mindful of even mild symptoms. Since March 3^rd we have put travel restrictions into place. This means we have cancelled any business-related travel and all events or large gatherings in our various offices throughout the world. We have also encouraged employees to work from home office if their role allows it. These measures are updated frequently and assessed daily by management.

So, what does this mean for you?

At the moment, the services we provide for our customers and designers are not at risk because of our rapid response and diverse approach to safeguarding the most essential processes, like on-demand printing. We have introduced new staggered shift hours, which reduces physical contact between factory employees and allows fresh air to circulate. We have similar measures in place for both receiving and shipping. For example, drivers will unpack the whole truck before employees will come to collect the goods from the ramps. Because of these unpredictable times, please take into account that orders and demand may temporarily drop until conditions are normalized.

A notice for our European Platform

Delivery time has been prolonged by two days to every country, as we are encountering delays at the borders. Estimated delivery times for your customers can be viewed here.

In the unfortunate event that one of our production sites is affected, we are prepared to take all necessary steps to protect our employees and to prevent the spread of the virus. As of today March 19^th, there are no problems at any of Spreadshirt’s five production sites or in our offices.

We all share a responsibility in reducing the impact of COVID-19. Spreadshirt is embracing this responsibility and taking necessary actions. We remain alert and ready to take the necessary steps and action in light of any new developments.

Flexfit cap: Spreadshop’s customers seem to be satisfied with the baseball cap, which is why we will be taking the Flexfit model out of our range in the first week of February. Of course, you will still have a wide range of caps and hats available! Besides the normal baseball cap, there is also a snapback and a trucker cap for your designs.

Discontinued Colors

• Men’s Premium T-Shirt in washed burgundy (ID 812) has been replaced by heather burgundy.
• Women’s Premium T-Shirt in heather navy & washed burgundy (ID 813) have been discontinued due to low sales.. We still offer heather blue for all t-shirts of the Premium collection.
• Organic Longsleeve Baby Bodysuit in red (ID 816) since sales have significantly dropped for this color. Light pink will still be in the assortment.

Focus on Typography

Huge, bold typography has been a recent graphic trend that will continue in 2020.

Typography has increasingly become a design element in its own right.  Typographic art and artistic typography work wonders in the world of web and offline design.  Let the words you feature speak for themselves and design typography that will blow Spreadshirt’s Marketplace customers away.

Line Art

Line Art is a boiled-down form of design that returns to the foundation of design itself.  Because what is the building block of every design?  Right—the humble line.

Line art is very reduced.  It’s about creating an image that is completely free of shading and perspective.  Line art has something iconographic about it, because the designer represents an object with just a few well-placed lines. 

Particularly exciting line art designs are those that consist of a single, unbroken line.

Pastel Heaven

This year, pastel colors are the height of fashion.  Blush and nude tones are particularly popular.  This design trend is more about the color of clothes themselves— but it also affects designs!

What designs lend themselves to backdrops of dusty rose, sky blue, lemon yellow and sage green?  Cute or kitschy pictures, comic-style drawings, beach vibes and soft-serve ice cream come to mind.  Get inspired, for example, by the Japanese design style Kawaii (which simply means “cute”).

Minimalism

Even though other trends have entered the scene, minimalism is still a popular design style with no signs of dying out anytime soon.  In 2020, this means above all: neutral colors or a reduced color palette and no-frills, sans-serif fonts.  But minimalism also means leaving space in your designs and keeping with the maxim, “less is more.” 

And the color of the year is…

“Classic Blue” is the color that the Pantone Color Institute has crowned the trend color this year.  This deep blue with the color code 19-4052 is great for designs featuring the sea and sky.

Pantone writes: “Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”
