FAQ

Why are some designs being removed from the Marketplace?

There are currently around 16 million designs on our Marketplace. The sheer number has made the Marketplace harder for customers to navigate. It’s more and more difficult to find designs that are truly in demand. To boost design visibility, in July 2024, we will remove all designs that have been published on the Marketplace for three years and have never been sold in that time.

Which designs are affected by the cleanup?

We are only removing designs from the marketplace that

  • have been published on the Marketplace for three years and
  • have never been sold in this period.

When will the designs be taken off the Marketplace?

The designs will be deactivated on the marketplace in July 2024.

What are the benefits of the cleanup?

Designs that are truly in demand will be more visible. This will make it much quicker and easier for Marketplace customers to find designs like your own and ultimately buy them.

How can I back up my designs?

You don’t need to back up your designs on account of this Marketplace cleanup, as all your designs will still be stored in your Partner Area. You can download your designs following the instructions below and back them up on your own devices at any time. Go to your Partner Area in the Design overview, choose a published design and click “Download” underneath the preview.

Will regular Marketplace cleanups take place from now on?

No, we are planning this as a one-off and will monitor its impact closely. As it stands currently, we are predicting that it will boost visibility for designs that are truly in demand and that we will achieve our aim of making the Marketplace more appealing for customers.

What kind of designs will generally be affected by the cleanup?

Our data shows that it will mainly affect designs that refer to a specific event in combination with a specific date. For instance: Christmas 2008, Back to School 2012, Best Bachelorette 2015, and so on.

How do I find out which of my designs are affected?

When the market cleanup is complete, we will inform you of design deactivation again by email and a notification in the Partner Area. You can view the deactivated designs in the Partner Area.

I am a Master of the Galaxy – doesn’t this cleanup indirectly introduce a Publishing Limit?

No, Masters of the Galaxy can continue to upload and publish an unlimited number of designs as usual. The cleanup only affects designs that have been published for three years and have never been sold in that time.

Our data shows this mainly affects motifs that refer to specific events in combination with a year or a date: think Christmas 2008, Back to School 2012, or Best Bachelorette 2015.

This means the cleanup will benefit all Star Classes, as in-demand designs will be more visible, easier to find, and ultimately, sell more often.

Is my Spreadshop affected by the cleanup, too?

No, the Marketplace cleanup won’t affect the designs in your Spreadshop. That goes for designs that have been deactivated for the Marketplace, too. The designs and products in your Shops remain unaffected.
