WOW! Wear is out there to inspire and contribute to a wiser world. Sounds like a tall task, but that didn’t stop Robert from opening the shop. We asked him a few questions about opening his shop, his designs and any suggestions he would have for Spreadshirt.
What inspired or motivated you to open a shop and how long have you run the shop?
I opened my WOW! WEAR webshop in the summer of 2010 after I had the strong feeling to start a new inspiring project. During the last four years I published positive news online on a daily bases and organised the National Good News Day in the Netherlands. After I finished this positive news work in 2009, I felt like doing something inspiring again. So I started WOW! WEAR to inspire people with Words Of Wisdom to wear.
How did you learn about Spreadshirt?
A friend of mine who already had such a webshop, told me about Spreadshirt. When I found out how easy it was to open your own shop, I started right away.
How much time do you invest in your shop? Do you create designs yourself?
My friend and graphic designer Peter Kok created the WOW! WEAR designs and together we invested quite some time in it. Especially at the beginning. But we are both very happy with the results and we think that people who wear WOW!, feel the same. Often we get emails from people telling us so. And when I put on a WOW! WEAR shirt myself, it always creates smiling faces around me or it starts inspiring conversations.
Where and how do you market your shop and make it well-known?
Because of my positive news work, I have many contacts in Dutch media. Through them I scored some free-publicity in the biggest Dutch magazine and on a national radio station. Next to that I rely on the ‘word of mouth’ and of course our Facebook page. But since our Words Of Wisdom are in English and we deliver throughout Europe, I hope to get some more attention outside of the Netherlands too.
Who do you think your customers are?
I think our customers are funky, intelligent people who also appreciate a balanced, conscious and adventurous lifestyle.
What was your biggest achievement up to now (with or without Spreadshirt)?
Not really something specific but I’m just very happy I actually started WOW! WEAR. Also because Spreadshirt made it so easy for me. Thus I can inspire people and maybe even contribute to a wiser world.
Have you ever seen someone you don’t know walking around with your t-shirt on?
Not yet but I can’t wait to see this, that would be really WOW!
Do you have any suggestions for Spreadshirt?
Like an increasing number of people WOW! WEAR wants to be eco-consious too. So it would be great if Spreadshirt could offer even more organic cotton items in many fashionable models and colours.
Thanks Robert for the interview and good luck with WOW! Wear!
