We’re counting down the days to Christmas – less than 100 days already. It’s high time you get your shop in order for the big event. You should also consider banging those marketing drums to boost gift sales.
It should be your goal to help the customer find his (or her) shopping targets in an efficient way. But how are you going to achieve that?
Create categories, which you can use to sort your products. These categories should be meaningful, so that they appear high up in a browser search. Think Christmas shoppers and last-minute buys. Initially you should consider which of your products could work as potential presents. Gifts for men, women and kids can be easily defined. Try to also include stuff for grandparents, sport enthusiasts (maybe for a special type of sport) and other groups as i.e. professions.
When you find the right categories, you can create these in your user area. Just click on the main navigation bar on “Products”. Then choose “My Categories” in the side navigation. After that you can define a title for the category, and then click on “Add”. Describe the new category by adding suitable keywords and then view “My Products”. Here you can now choose the products which you want to transfer to the new category. Scroll all the way down and choose the bulk action “Move to a category” in the drop-down menu. In a final step you now need to state the category to which the product should be moved. And voilà: your customers will now be able to find gifts for mum, dad, grannie or their boyfriends and girlfriends.
Don’t forget to link your categories “from outside”. For this you need e.g. a “Pintertest board” (Want to find out more about Pintertest? Find out more here!). More information about linking up your categories you can find here!
