Our New T-Shirt Designer is Better Than Ever

Our New T-Shirt Designer is Better Than Ever

Our T-Shirt Designer is getting a makeover. We’re rolling out our new designing interface to our Shops and User Area. These changes will make your life a whole lot easier, but they’ll also improve the buying experience for customers, making it easier for them to get complete their order. Take a look for yourself…

What are the Changes?

We’re looking to standardize most of our functions, as Spreadshirt users surely noticed inconsistencies across the website. Now, regardless of whether you’re buying or selling, everyone will be relying on the same tool.

The new technology will lead to several additional benefits, including improved intuitiveness and mobile compatibility. When you first use the new T-Shirt Designer, you’ll immediately recognize the improved design, touch, and feel of the interface. Plus, this change allows us to consistently update the technology to accommodate new features.

One of the major motivations for changing the T-Shirt Designer in the User Area was the fact that the technology was based around outdated Flash software. There are newer and better ways to present this tool, and you’ll no longer have to deal with slow loading times or annoying Flash popups. Plus, Adobe is moving away from Flash, so the change was inevitable.

One last change: in your Shop, when customers want to add text via the T-Shirt Designer, they’ll now have the ability to bend the text. This is a minor addition, but it’s exciting nonetheless.

What’s Next?

Well, it’s time for you to test out the new technology! Head over to our T-Shirt Designer and try out all the changes for yourself. When you’re done, let us know what you think in the comment section below.

  1. Hello! Can you please explain how I can embed the new t-shirt designer and deeplink to a product? I need a responsive embed.

    • Hi there, Leon!

If you are using the Spreadshop JS code nothing has changed… you can deeplink to products as before and the shop will switch between the new designer and the old one, depending on the device. If you have a different situation – then please tell me more and I can try to help you out 🙂

      Best,
      Sara

  2. OK. Credit where it’s due. The new designer is a hell of a lot better than the old one [although, that wasn’t exactly much of a challenge]. But the whole process of designing and making a product available is still almost as frustrating as it ever was.

Why do I have to keep typing in the same information over and over again?

I upload a design and give it a title, description and tags. Then when I choose to make it available in the marketplace, I have to fill in title, description and tags again as they are blank on that form. Likewise when I want to add the product to my shop; again, on that form title, description and tags are blank and I have to type them in again for the third time.

Similar hassles when I want to create new products. I have to open each piece of art over and over again in [effectively] a new Product Designer window by clicking “Create Another Product” after I’ve made the previous one. Other companies such as Redbubble, Teepublic, etc allow you to upload a piece of art and apply it to multiple products at once [adjusting size and positioning individually were required]. This is a much more user-friendly approach.

Not that Redbubble or Teepublic’s product designers don’t have their own annoyances too. I don’t know why no-one seems to be able to get this right. One of the raisons d’etre of the computer is to help free us from the drudgery of repetitive tasks. Every time I use one of these product designers and have to do the same thing over and over and over again, then that product designer has failed, in my eyes.

    • Hiya Stuzbot,
It sounds like your using one of our legacy accounts (also called “old user account”), which are unfortunately hardly being developed anymore. Here, we’ve replaced the designer due to convenience, but regarding general UI / UX, we no longer develop the old interface. It is only maintained.

We have launched new, updated interface already in 2016 – if you wish to use it, feel free to just make a new account 🙂

You enter the metadata just once, you can bulk edit products and publish items easily in both your shop and the marketplace. Maybe that’s exactly what you’re looking for?

      Cheers,
      Sara

  3. I would like the option to have print on both sides of a t-shirt.
For example motive on the front and logo on the back.
Will that be implemented in a near future?

    • Hi Christian,

no such feature is currently planned although it exists as an idea in our backlog.

      Thanks for you understanding,
      Lena
