Shop Partner Interview with YouTube’s Dyton Brothers

The Dyton Brothers are a vlogging sibling foursome making videos for your entertainment! Just a few months into their YouTube channel, they’ve also set up a t-shirt shop on Spreadshirt claiming that buying a t-shirt will save a unicorn. We can’t confirm the truth behind this claim, but we did have a few questions about their videos, their mum and the Dyton Brothers Spreadshirt shop.

When did you start making videos and what brought you guys  to it?

Well, I actually started making videos, even before Nathan was born. I’d grab my mum’s camera and shoot a bunch of pointless videos with friends.

We even used to make stupid music videos. But in 2006, I joined YouTube and started vlogging. And later on, started making random sketches with Josh (the 19 year old brother).

Eventually we involved Zack and Nathan in our videos. So with what I learned, and what I believed people wanted to see, I decided to create a new YouTube account called ‘DytonBrothers‘.

How is it at home? I mean so many guys at once.. who helps mum the most?

To be honest, it’s pretty awesome here. We all get along 90% of the time, although Zack and Nathan fight the most. But we make each other laugh at least 100 times a day, and I’m not exaggerating at all.

Mum doesn’t have to do much at all, we all usually sort things out ourselves. I think the only thing she does is the washing and cleaning and on the odd occasion she’ll cook.

And now to Spreadshirt… how did you land at Spreadshirt? And how does it feel to work with us so far?

I was actually looking for a website that did custom T-Shirts, since a friend advised me to. So I went to a YouTuber/friend that I knew had custom T-Shirts (Vanawesome) and found the site through him. Although I came to this site first, I did look around to see some others, but this had everything we needed and was very simple to set up. After about a week, I noticed a e-mail in my junk folder and it was a wonderful and welcoming person from Spreadshirt (Filipa), offering some awesome stuff to help sell our T-Shirts. At first I was like ‘Whaaat? This can’t be legit?’ But I realised it was. Filipa just bombarded me with help and made everything so easy for me. I think the best thing is that she is so insanely awesome to talk to, like she is a long lost Dyton Sister! So it’s been pretty awesome to work with Spreadshirt.

Who do you think your customers are?

I think my customers are big DytonBrothers fans. Viewers that wish to show what they like. Supporters if you will. If not that, then they are big Unicorn lovers. Or both.

Everyone knows that buying a DytonBrothers T-Shirt saves a Unicorn from the slaughter house.

What was your biggest achievement up to now (with or without Spreadshirt)?

Our biggest achievement I would have to say, is that we were contacted by a Production Company in New York, and they said that they want to make a TV show with us for US TV.
We actually have a contract with them now and it’s in the process.

Tell us something you’ve never told anyone?

Oh man. Hmmm. OK. Sometimes, not every video, but some videos, we really really hate recording. Like, we can get angry with each other, especially me, because I have to direct it all and record it, so if someone messes up for the 20th time, I can really lose my temper. Especially when it’s a simple 10 second shot, that takes an hour to record. That’s a little secret that our viewers don’t know. We’re not always happy haha!

If you see someone passing by with one of your shirts… do you say hello?

Of course! I would grab them and hug them. If they were wearing one, I would expect them to notice us first though haha. I would also thank them for their support in Unicorn survival.

If you were a t-shirt, what would you look like?

If I personally was a T-Shirt, I would probably be plain and black. Since T-Shirts are a visual thing, that you meet in person. I’m usually a quiet person, and don’t talk much, so I’d be a mystery.

Josh would probably be a bright blue shirt with “LOOK AT ME” printed on both sides.

Zack, he would be a green T-Shirt, with a gravestone of his name on it, since he always dies in our videos. Nathan would be a blood red T-Shirt with warning signs all over it saying stuff like “Stay back” and “Explosive content” or something like that.

Now try sell your shirts to the readers of this interview!

  1. Well done Luke! You guys seriously deserve all the success and attention you’re getting. On top of being hilarious, these brother are just about the nicest bunch I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. (Also, thanks for the nod) Now time to buy a shirt.
