From tape jam to shredding carrots: Last time around, Marion demonstrated how to put some music in your tank tops and bags, and today Laure from the I love DIY blog has a new surprise for you. With devotion to the saints of handy crafts, she demonstrates that an apron can indeed be a fashion icon. See for yourself how the kitchen can become an even hotter place by applying some simple DIY to a hugely underestimated fashion accessory:
“Aprons make cooking more fun when they give voice to a part of your personality – they can be as unique as your meals! Wearing an apron when cooking has become an essential part of preparing good food. It’s just better to cover up your freshly washed clothes with an extra layer of protection. And a bit of DIY turns a mundane apron into something really special. This is how it works:
What you need is:
– an apron with a design
– golden iron-on foil
– iron-on rivets
– tracing paper
– scissors
– an iron
1. Draw parts of the design on the tracing paper that you want to fill with foil later.
2. Cut out the parts and place them on the golden iron-on foil. Then cut them out of the iron-on foil.
3. Place the parts on the apron and iron them on (without applying steam) for 20-30 seconds.
4. Remove the foil once it has cooled down.
5. Apply the rivets. Put them in the right spots and iron them on without using steam (place a piece of cloth under it!).
Job’s a good one! You won’t cook without apron ever again.”

Looks fab! Got an instant idea for a hair stylist as well 🙂
