Pantone’s trending colour 2015: Marsala

trendcolor marsala

It’s like a colourful ground hog day: every year, the experts at Pantone choose a colour to enter the limelight for the next 12 months to come. Fashion conscious folks around the globe set great store by their opinion, so it comes as no surprise that the colour of the year 2015 has caused quite a stir among trendy aficionados already. The name of this year’s colour is as exotic as its origin – marsala. The name is derived from a dark and strong Sicilian liqueur wine that stems from the ancient town of Marsala, and you only need to imagine a cracked open pomegranate to picture its lush texture.

Founded in the 4th century AD, the Sicilian port of Marsale gained prominence around 1770 when an Englishman started to import their wine. Ever since, the name Marsala has become synonymous with a spirituous Italian delicacy that has now inspired Pantone to give a new rise to the wine’s colour.

Marsala – not to be confused with the Indian spice Masala – is a deeply saturated red. In our range of products, you can find it e.g. among the hoodies (here called “bordeaux”) and aprons. There is also a Women’s Scoop Neck T-Shirts (here called “plum“) waiting to be personalised to meet the year with a renewed colourful vibes.
