Mix Tapes, Baby!

Sure there’s plenty to do at festivals: the dancing, the games, the singing, shopping the little craft tables, grilling, etc., but we all know why we’re here – the music! A great way to set the stage (excuse the pun) for a great festival experience is to create good old-fashioned mix CDs (or cassettes if you can dig out a tape deck from a pyramid). Put together a playlists of the bands you’re going to see, and blast them in the car or your headphones on the way. It’s a great way to psych yourself up for the adventure ahead.

Light & Layer-able

The Women’s Flowy Tank by Bella is the ultimate festival option. Since it’s summertime, the light and flowy fabrics keep you cool and free, as opposed to their heavier, bulkier counterparts. Flowy tank tops can be layered on top of each other, thrown on over a sports bra, or worn under a light zip when the night sets in. The best part is you can adorn them with summer or music designs to really set the scene.

The Unisex Tri-Blend T by American Apparel

A favourite of this writer, the Unisex Tri-Blend T by American Apparel is the ultimate T-shirt. It’s soft, draping fabrics compliment the physique, and the heather blend of cotton, polyester, and rayon is ultra fashionable. Choose from three stylish heather colours (heather gray, heather black or heather blue) and dance, dance, dance the night away.

The Sleeve Roll

The men’s and women’s T-shirts are prime candidates for your festival bag. Their loose-fitting cut and wide neckline make this piece the ultimate option for dancing, hacky sack, or spinning around in circles (you know there’s one in every crowd). Roll the sleeves up to get a little colour on those upper arms, because – as the saying goes – “Sun’s out, guns out!”

Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen!

Use it. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Skin cancer is as real and serious as going without a shower for a whole week. Use sunscreen early and often to avoid being burnt. We at Spreadshirt Towers know from experience that nothing can throw a spanner in the works like a bad sunburn. No need being sick in your tent while everyone else is dancing, singing, drinking, and having the time of their lives. So, if we could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.

Leave a Hat ON

Hats are a great thing to pack for any festival experience. They’re great for keeping the sun out of your face, but they’re especially perfect as accessories to any summer outfit. For girls, a nice fedora, straw hat or snapback can really put your cute concert digs over the top. Fellas may pretty much live in baseball caps, so you already know the deal. Hats. Don’t be caught without one. And they’re not half bad for pulling down over your eyes and taking a little cat nap in the sun.

Nature Crowns

Being at festivals means being one with nature. Most of the bigger festivals are outdoors in the middle of nowhere. And – let’s face it – it can get pretty messy and muddy. Bring handy-wipes for a quick clean up. On top of that, you can find all sorts of wild flowers, field grasses and twigs to make yourself a nature crown. Embrace your inner hippie and go for it. People will ask you where you bought it, guaranteed.

Any tips for your fellow festival goers? What kind of things have you brought with you that you were ultra thankful for (see: toilet paper) and what type of things may not have been such a great idea? Help us out, here. We look forward to hearing from you.
