Let the scarf do the cheering

It’s taken four long years, and now we’re enjoying four weeks of sheer football bliss. The football world cup in Brazil is giving us ample opportunity to watch, hope and fear for the teams we want to win the cup.

And even in the sweltering Copacabana heat we can see folks wearing scarves of the team they support, so we’ve learnt our lesson well: you just need a scarf to cheer on your team! Of course you can always put your scarf to good use once the world cup is over as well.

Before you throw it out along with your bell-button jeans and big-collar shirts, there are a few things you can do with old scarves. Curious? Read on, this will change your fashion-conscious mind.

Tip #1: take all of your old scarves and stitch them together at the long sides.

The more scarves you have, the bigger the blanket or curtain for your bedroom.

Only got one old scarf? Tip #2: cut it up in small pieces and stitch up the ends to create sweatbands for new sports accessories.

It may take a bit of tailoring expertise, but you could create an item that’d fill your nan with pride. And you can be sure to have a stand-out item in your bathroom for others to admire.

And the next one is for brave girls. Tip #4: turn your scarf into a top, completely belly-free and strap free.

Tip #5: Happy days for your neck. Just cut open the ends of a scarf, fill it with old T-shirts and tie the egdes together.

Of course, girls wearing these tops will be an instant hit with the local football crowd. Whatever good use you put your old scarf to, you can be sure to create a stand-out fan memorabilia.
