SEO is super important for your “googleability ”, and this is why our SEO team will give you precious SEO advise. SEO will help you optimise your shop so that search engines like Google can find you more easily and push your site ranking. Here it is important to focus on keywords that best describe your products.
How does Google work? It´s database is called “the index”, which is being fed by a large number of “crawlers” (also known as spiders) that constantly browse the web in order to create an inventory of all the websites online. When someone enters a query with Google – let’s say “personalised T-shirts” – Google’s algorithm comes into play. The algorithm analyses and ranks the results in relation to the keywords that were entered. Nobody is aware of the exact algorithm that Google uses, but we do know some of the factors that help push the ranking in the result pages. So keep reading!
There are 5 things you can do to seriously improve your shop ranking. And if you have an eye out on our blog, there’ll be a few more tips to come.
1. Have a clear idea of your brand
Give a name to your shop and state what you want to specialise in. Example: geek T-shirts & sweatshirts. It will be easier for you to market your brand and for your fans to remember you when they’re looking for you.
2. Fill out all the meta information in your user area
Log into your Spreadshirt account, go to “Shop”, and click on “Info & meta”. Then just follow the instructions. Give a name to your shop, and add a description. Scroll down to ”Meta data” and enter a title and a description. Meta data is the information that will be visible on Google’s search result pages. The title should be no longer than 70 characters, and the description 156 characters max. (including blank spaces). To see what your shop will look like on the result pages, you can preview it by using this tool. Make sure the information is clear so that people know want to click on. What’s more, your meta data should include the main keyword you want your shop to focus on. If you specialise in “smiley aprons”, then make sure that this keyword and variations of the same (e.g. “funny aprons”, “fun aprons”, “smile aprons“, “smiley face aprons”) appear in all the elements mentioned above.
3. Your products
Give a different name and description to each of your products. Google doesn’t appreciate duplicate content. Help the algorithm figure out the difference between your products and make it look appealing to your visitors.
4. Panda and the value of your content
Panda is a filter in Google searches that prevents low quality sites from ranking well in the results page. Google tries to make good content matter, which means that smaller, editorial websites with specialised content and a lot of information are more likely to rank higher with certain keywords than big websites with poor or no content at all. For you it is important to create value for both your shop and the reader. If your shop is embedded in your own website, create text and articles that talk about your products and your ideas in a way that your customers would find appealing. The longer a post and the more information it contains, the better the quality in the eyes of Google. You should also structure your content using HTML: using Headers, sub-headers, words in bold and bullet points help the reader and Google to see why your content is important (including your keywords). If you don’t know how to use HTML, don’t worry; just check out this website.
5. Submit your URL to search engines
There are 2 very important things you can do for your shop site. First you should go to your user area, select “Shops” and then to “URL & Linking”. Here you can add your shop name in the URL.
And of course, if search engines aren’t aware of the existence of your shop in the first place, then it’s going to be very hard to rank it! Don’t wait until they crawl it – that can take ages.

Your SEO team Spreadshirt

Hi Nomix,
There is unfortunately no chance to add a description to your product if you have created it in your Designer Shop. The title of your page is automatically put together in the following way:
– Felpa Personalizzata” is the name you gave your products.
– “Felpa con cappuccio da uomo” is the product name that has been allocated by us.
– “con personalizzazione” is the information stating that the product can be personalised.
– And “Nomix Shop” is the name of your shop that you chose.
The products created in the user area for the T-Shirt-Designer are not directly available to the final customer in the shop area in a way it is possible ine.g. the standard shop. These are uploaded to the T-Shirt-Designer, if e.g. a deep link is requested. This is why these products are also not relevant in terms of SEO.
I hope this helps!
About tip 3 – Your products
I choose a name for every single product on my Spread Shop: that should be the TITLE of the product page; why do you add words to the TITLE???
For example this page https://nomix.spreadshirt.it/felpa-con-cappuccio-personalizzata-A11404058
I want the TITLE to be “Felpa personalizzata” (that’s the NAME in Product Page). For some reason the TITLE on the webpage is “Felpa Personalizzata – Felpa con cappuccio da uomo, con personalizzazione | Nomix Shop”, why?? That is not the title I have chosen and worst of all is not SEO friendly at all!
You should use the NAME of the product as TITLE without adding or changing anything!
And by the way: there’s no way to insert a DESCRIPTION in the Product Page….
