New Tax: Less Commission on Sales to Switzerland and Liechtenstein

New Tax: Less Commission on Sales to Switzerland and Liechtenstein

Anyone who sells to Switzerland and/or Liechtenstein will now have to adjust to a lower income. As of 28/9/2018, Switzerland will introduce new VAT regulations, meaning Spreadshirt’s deliveries to Switzerland and Liechtenstein will be subjected to Swiss VAT.

Specifically, the commissions for sales to Switzerland and Liechtenstein will be reduced by the VAT rate of 7.7%. Marketplace designers will have their design price earnings reduced by the same amount. If you run a Spreadshop, you’ll have to prepare for lower earnings from all sources of income. The taxation is similar to VAT fees charged by other European countries. For example, Germany currently charges 19% VAT, while Austria charges 20% VAT.

On the plus side, when it comes to imported goods entering Switzerland and Liechtenstein, all other taxes, fees or customs duties that were due in the past have now been removed.

  1. Hi,
could you please clarify the last part?
Does this mean a person located in Switzerland or Liechtenstein will directly have the Swiss VAT included in the order’s bill and does not longer need to pay anything else at the custom?
    Thanks
