Spreadshirt Donations for Japan

Many of you have asked over the last few days if we were planning to do something for Japan. Some shop partners have even started doing promotions of their own to donate proceeds from sales in their shop.

Often with these large scale natural disasters, it comes down to the fine line between “doing good and talking about it” and “jumping on the bandwagon” – so here’s what we have planned.

We don’t want a donation to be dependent on a purchase, which also means we don’t want to decide for you where “your” money should go. Above all, we want to separate two things:

Showing Solidarity

Many of us want to express their sympathy and do something good. If you would like to donate, there’s a great overview for donating for Japan on Betterplace. They have a line of organisations from which you can choose where your money goes. They also have hundreds of other projects which need support, but have been overshadowed by the catastrophe in Japan.

We are also collecting donations and Spreadshirt as a company is donating €2,000. We would be happy for every extra euro you as employees, customers or partners add on top of that. Read more

New Products – Organic Hoodie, New T-Shirt and New Colours

Ahhh, the wonderful smell of freshly unpacked new products! We’ve got a couple of new products that are certain to bring a smile to your face. Let’s start with the new Men’s T-Shirt from Continental Clothing, which was a product request from many of our partners. This product allows us to offer another classic shirt which has a more fashionable look. It sits well on the body and especially on the arms more so than our Men’s Classic Shirt, but is less “form-fitting” than our Men’s Slim Fit Shirt. The fabric weight of 155 g/m² guarantees an easy and light fit. This product is available for all printing techniques (including Digital Direct) and comes in the colours white, black, red and navy in the sizes S-XL.

We’re also freshening up our organic range. We have been really impressed with the shirts in Continental Clothing’s EarthPositive line – which is why we are now offering EarthPositive organic hoodies for men and women in black, charcoal and peacock blue. I think the front pockets are a cool feature for this product – instead of your typical kangaroo pouch, there are two pockets sewn into the sides that add a discreet touch to the product. Compared with our regular hoodies, the organic hoodies are lighter and are easier to wear on warmer days. This product is also open to all printing techniques, however Digital Direct is only available on the back. Read more

SEO Tips to Promote Your Shop

Today is another guest post in our series of Shop Partner guests – this time from Jeremy Gill. He is going to give you a few tips on how to use SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) for your shop. Jeremy, the stage is yours.

I spoke to a friend a couple of months ago and recommended Spreadshirt as a supplementary means of income, and he immediately set off on his goal to create a Spreadshirt shop. A few months down the line, I asked him how many sales he had achieved and he said “none” and I can bet this is what a lot of people say? So why am I getting loads of sales and he’s not getting any? It’s not that his designs are not very good but the answer is simple – nobody is finding his Spreadshirt shop!!

I’ve been running a few on-line businesses since I was made redundant 9 years ago, and it’s not rocket science – if no one visits your website, then you don’t sell anything. It’s like building a supermarket in the middle of a desert and not telling anyone it’s there.

I now run quite a few Spreadshirt shops, but let’s just look at my Biker T-shirts site and see how it’s performing in Google. So, you are looking for a t-shirt for a friend that rides a motorbike – what are you going to type into Google? Perhaps biker t-shirts, motorcycle t-shirts or motorbike t-shirts? Go on try it – type “motorcycle t-shirts” into Google and you will find links to my Spreadshirt shop on page 1 in positions 1, 2 and 4 (at the time of writing). OK, one of them is www.biker-gifts.co.uk/t_shirts.htm but this is my website and links directly to my Spreadshirt shop. The other 2 are the main website www.biker-t-shirts.co.uk and the Spreadshirt shop www.biker-t-shirts.spreadshirt.co.uk so not too bad out of 9,730,000 results!! Read more

First Spreadshirt Print Catalog Coming this Spring

Last December, we sent out a catalog to a number of our German customers to see how they would react. We were pretty satisfied with the results, especially when you consider that this was the first time doing one.

We don’t want the Germans to have all of the fun – so we are going to put together a snazzy print catalog for you too! We are currently working out the concept for the next edition and we have a basic idea what we want to have in there. We had asked our German forum members for some input last winter, and there were some great ideas. I want to offer you all the same opportunity to share your thoughts and any ideas you would want to see in print.

What can you do?
Head over to the forum and take a look at what we’ve set up. If you have products on the Marketplace you think would fit, there’s your chance to suggest them to us to be included to the catalogue.
Also, if you have any ideas about other topics we should include, we’d be happy to hear those too!
